Mr. Raymond Davis Collins, age 64, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born September 2, 1952 to the late Lamer Houston and Pauline Hicks Collins. Mr. Collins proudly served our county in the United States Army and worked as a carpenter for Leonard’s Buildings until he retired. Left to cherish his memories are two sons, Raymond and Paul Collins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Todd Garr, Jennifer and Ben Hickman; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Collins, Marvin Collins, Alvin Collins; a sister, Betty Collins; eleven grandchildren, Shyanne, Jordan, Patrick, Hunter, and Quinton Collins, Tristan, Jaiden, Sage, Alexis and Alexandria Garr, and Justin Williams. In addition to his parents Mr. Collins was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Mack Collins; two sisters, Barbara Burkhart, and Ruby Collins. No formal service will be held at the funeral home. The family request that donations be made to Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy to assist with the funeral expenses. Oh my I didn't even know he had passed . I knew Raymond for years.. He worked on our cars a lot of the time when his Dad was living and even after his Dad passed he still came to our rescue when we needed him.. Raymond was a very good man. He tried his best to help everyone that needed help.
He will be missed by many myself included.. Raymond was not only a friend but we where kin in some way.''
Rest in Peace Raymond you are home at last.

It was an honor to be able to be Raymond's nurse through Mountain Valley Hospice. Loved our talks, and the laughs we shared. He will be missed. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
