​Mr. Early Walter Arrington

Mr. Early Walter Arrington age 95, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017. He was born in Surry County, August 5, 1922 to the late Jobe Edward and Ida Gordon Arrington. Mr. Arrington was retired from various hosiery mill companies, and was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Walter was member of Indian Grove Baptist Church for 75 years. Left to cherish his memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Oliver Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Jackie Arrington; three grandchildren, Dr. Jeffery Blackmon and Anne Marie, Jennifer Wright and her husband, Daniel, Emily Arrington and her friend Tyler Manring; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Amelia Blackmon, Luke and Charlotte Wright; and special extended family, sister-in-law, Kathleen Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Roger Inman. In addition to his parents Mr. Arrington was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Nonnie Inman Arrington, one sister, Dorothy Carter, and six brothers, Harvey Arrington, Garfield Arrington, Lester Arrington, Victor Arrington, Lacy Arrington and Joe Arrington. Funeral services will be held Friday August 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Moody Funeral Chapel in Mount Airy, with Rev. Joe Smith officiating. The Arrington family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The Arrington family would like to thank his Ridgecrest community friends and staff for all their love and support during his time there.
