​Mr. Michael Wayne Whitaker

Mr. Michael Wayne Whitaker, 64, of Statesville passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was the youngest son born to Ruby Dell Brewer and the late Byrd Edgar Whitaker, Jr., on January 8, 1954 in Surry County. In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Darrell Hauser of Winston Salem; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry Whitaker, and Leon and Jan Whitaker all of Mt. Airy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with Rev. Zane Fishel officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
