​Mrs. Rilla Hiatt Redman

Mrs. Rilla Hiatt Redman age 100, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday afternoon February 21, 2016 at Ridgecrest Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Redman was born in Surry County on May 26, 1915 to Joe Hiatt and Martha Simmons Hiatt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. Mrs. Redman was a lifetime member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Redman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sandra Redman of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Pam Morgan (Todd) of Pilot Mountain, and Tony Simmons (Lisa) of King, Mike Gordon of Winston Salem; and five great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Jerry Simmons (Barbie) of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Redman was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Franklin Redman; two daughters, Barbara Redman Gordon and Joyce Redman Simmons; a great great-grandchild, Jackson Gordon; three sisters, Tracie Inman, Emma Needham, and Nonnie Bryant; two brothers, Ashby Hiatt and Elmer Hiatt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Simmons Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Stewart Mauck and Rev. Jay Meadows officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Simmons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 443 Simmons Grove Baptist Church Rd., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
