​Mrs. Clara Etta Stanley

Mrs. Clara Etta Stanley, 88, , passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born November 5, 1928 to the late Perry and Mary Alice Harrell Bowman. Mrs. Stanley was a devoted and faithful member of Doe Run Baptist Church where she attended as long as her health would permit. Left to cherish her memories are three sons and daughters- in-law; Posey and Mozelle Stanley, Junior and Rita Stanley, Robert and Dianne Stanley, five grandchildren; Amanda Dezern, Shannon Jeune, Alison Easter, Cindy McCraw, Robbie Stanley, eleven great-grandchildren two brothers and sisters-in-law; Clyde and Angelina Bowman, Joe Bill and Maxine Bowman. and three sisters, Effie Sawyers, Edith Sawyers, and Elaine Draughn. In addition to her parents Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband Burton Avery Stanley, one sister: Theresa Stanley, three brothers; Glen, Marvin, and Malcolm Bowman. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday February 26, 2017 at Doe Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Vaughan officiation with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM -3:00 PM at the church. The Family would like to give thanks and appreciation the staff at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all the kindness shown during Mrs. Stanley’s Illness.
