Joel Marion

Mr. Joel Edward Marion, 64, of Cana, VA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday evening, April 3, 2021.  He was born in Forsyth County, on August 19, 1956, one of six children born to the late Joel Monroe Marion and Mary Stevens Marion.  He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.  Joel loved working on lawnmowers, planting a garden, and having yard sales.  He worked at Hamlin Casting as long as his health permitted.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shelly Ann Marion and friend Bob Barr; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dallas and Anna Marion, and Troy Marion; three grandchildren, Elliot Edward Marion, Nathan Brown, and Samuel Brown; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy Hiatt and Roy, Mary Wall and Aubrey, and Joyce Hawks and Melvin; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Marion and Ann; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Marion was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Judy Ann Beasley Marion; a sister, Esther Marion; and a daughter-in-law, Samantha Marion.  Respecting the current limitations of numbers for public gatherings currently (COVID-19), a graveside service will be held at the Peoples Church on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Charles Stevens officiating.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Service on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time of the service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Marion family.   To send flowers to Joel's family, please visit our floral store.
