Ray Collins

Mr. Ray Dowling Collins, age 92, of Statesville, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home.  He was born on July 22, 1928 to the late Mamie Byerly.  Mr. Collins was the former owner of Collins Chevrolet.  Mr. Collins was a member the Masonic Corinthian Lodge #542 A.F. and A. M. and was also a member of the Shriners Club.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Theresa Draughn Collins of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Monica Collins, Chris and Marcia Collins; daughters and son-in-law, Ruth Ann Badgett, Tracy and Chris Thomas; grandchildren, Brandon Collins, Mary Rose and husband Chris, Nick Collins, Logan Badgett, Lacey Badgett, Will Thomas, Lynzie Thomas.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Gurley Collins.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Jamie Fox with Military Honors by VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  Entombment will follow at 2:00 PM in Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Clemmons.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners club in honor of Mr. Collins.
