Aaron Odell "Jack" Calhoun

Mr. Aaron Odell "Jack" Calhoun, 81, devoted husband of Mrs. Clarine Fowler Calhoun, of Dobson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 11, 2007 after and extended illness .He was born in Forsyth County on August 26, 1925 to the late Julius Archie and Mazie Draughn Calhoun Doss. Mr. Calhoun was a retired farmer and a dedicated member of Salem Baptist Church. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Clarine Fowler Calhoun; a daughter, who was the light of his life, and son-in-law, Robin and Garry Moore of Dobson; three grandchildren, Chad and wife Lasha Moore of Dobson, NC, Natalie and husband Nick Arduin of Independence, VA, Jessica and husband Jeremy Houser of Hickory, NC; a great-granddaughter, Kamrin Arduin; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Calvin Bowman of Mt. Airy, NC and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by four brothers, James A. Calhoun, Jessie W. Calhoun, Billy G. Calhoun and Ervin W. Calhoun. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Lewis and Rev. Darrell Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday at Salem Baptist Church. After the visitation, Mr. Calhoun will be carried to Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund 430 Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank their many friends, neighbors, and family members for every act of kindness shown to them during this difficult time.
