Aaron Steven Dowdy

Aaron Steven Dowdy, age 19 of Mt. Airy, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Aaron was born in Surry County on August 9, 1993 to Tim and Brandy Hiatt Dowdy. "Aaron had a brilliant mind and was a caring, loving soul." He was proud of being a graduate of Mount Airy High School and really enjoyed needling his "Greyhound Dad" about being a "Mount Airy Bear." He was a student at Surry Community College. Surviving are his loving parents, Tim and Brandy Dowdy of the home; a brother, Edward Nickerson of Greensboro; a sister, Samantha Puckett of Boonville; his maternal grandparents, Rex and Colleen Hiatt; his paternal grandfather and step grandmother, Cecil Dowdy, Jr. and Peggy and his paternal great grandmother, Margaret Dowdy all of Mt. Airy. Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Drema Dejager. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Midkiff Cemetery by Rev. Wade Edwards. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Institute of North Carolina at 1131 Westbrook Plaza, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
