Aaron Wallace Francis

Mr. Aaron Wallace Francis, 87, of 661 Maple Street, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, June 27, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Francis was born February 14, 1922, in Carroll County, VA, son of the late Herbert and Lavada Mallie Francis Harold. Aaron retired as a grocery salesman from Blue Ridge Wholesale after many years of service, and later worked at the Flat Rock Recycling Center until his health declined. Mr. Francis was a member and deacon of Flat Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, VA. He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Bradley and Lannie and Hubert Marion, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; three stepchildren and their spouses, Linda and Wayne Busick, Dale Easter, and Ronnie and Debbie Easter, all of Cana, VA; several stepgrandchildren; and several great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Francis was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hawks Francis; his second wife, Evelyn Easter Francis; and a sister, Lucille Harold Chamberlain. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Flat Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
