Mrs. Ada Irene Gibson Poteat, 83, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Poteat was born August 2, 1925, in Stokes County, to James M. and Jettie C. Gibson. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tammy Poteat of Pilot Mountain; four grandsons, Jonathan Andrew Poteat and wife, Nicole, Brandon James Poteat, James Andrew Poteat, Jr., and Anthony Shawn Poteat; great-grandsons, Brandon James Poteat, Jr. and Samuel Claude Poteat; a sister, Peggy Beck; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Helen Gibson of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poteat was preceded in death by a her husband, Claude Shelton Poteat; a brother, Paul Gibson; and a special friend, Jewel Palmer. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Doug Bennett, and burial will follow in the Brim's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
