Agnes Irene Haynes Chilton

Mrs. Agnes Irene Haynes Chilton, 88, of Mt. Airy passed away after a brief illness Saturday, February 6, 2016. She was born in Surry County on June 15, 1927 to the late William Edgar and Lydia Kate Blue Haynes. Mrs. Chilton was retired from White Plains School and was a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. She is survived by daughters, Claudette Elliot and friend Howard Tarkington, Denise Chilton Sams all of Manning, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Nancy Chilton of Advance, Ned and Carolyn Chilton of Manning, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Chilton, Allison Chilton, Claudia Sams, Abigail Chilton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iris Hodges of Woodbridge, VA, Betty and Gollie Easter of Blairsville, GA, Catherine and Buddy Creed of Lowgap; brothers and sisters-in-law, Archie and Norma Haynes, Don and Lien Haynes all of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chilton was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Chilton; a son-in-law, Grady Elliot; a sister, Ann Cave; brothers, Arnold Haynes, William Haynes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fonda Younger officiating. Burial will follow in White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friendsTuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
