Agnes Pernie Leftwich Sechrist

Mrs. Agnes Pernie Leftwich Sechrist, 79, of Cana, VA, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA. Mrs. Sechrist was born June 5, 1930, in Surry County, to the late Walter and Hallie Collins Leftwich. She was a devoted Christian and a dedicated prayer warrior. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother, who had a love and concern for everyone. Mrs. Sechrist is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Libby Harris and Kathy Parker and her fiancee, Wesley Kirkman, all of Cana, VA, and Cindy and Frankie Davis of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Ellen Sechrist of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Connie and Charles Tolbert of Pilot Mountain, and Barbara and Tommy Kingsbury and Gloria Martin, all of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Walt Leftwich, Jr. and Linda of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sechrist was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lovill Sechrist; a son, Dennis Sechrist; and two brothers, Danny Leftwich and Dale Leftwich. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dean Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Solid Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
