Agnes Maybelle Smith

Mrs. Agnes Maybelle Smith, 86, of Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA. Mrs. Smith was born May 21, 1921, in Patrick County, VA, to Pink Sheffney and Victoria Culler Smith. She was a retired registered nurse and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Smith was a member of The Fellowship Church. Surviving are her husband, Fred Smith of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Garland Holland of Ararat, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Becky Smith of Martinsville, VA; grandchildren, Julie Clifton and husband, Mitch, of Mount Airy, Emily Smith and fiance, Jon Sheridian, of Charlottesville, VA, Jenny Smith of Philadelphia, PA, and Davis Smith of Memphis, TN; a stepgranddaughter, Greer Campbell of Martinsville, VA; a great-granddaughter, Eliza Clifton; and a step-great-grandson, Jake Saar. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Culler. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Kelly Giese officiating. The family will receive friends at their Ararat home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to churches or the charities of the donor's choice.
