Aileen Edwards Badgett

Mrs. Aileen Edwards Badgett, 106, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2023.  She was born April 9, 1917, in Mount Airy, to Irwin Richard “I.R.” and Zoie Blanche Brannock Edwards.  She joined the First Baptist Church at an early age and had special memories of her attendance there and her graduation from Mount Airy High School, Class of 1935.

Aileen was predeceased by her parents; five brothers, Thomas Irwin Edwards (Hazel), John Lester Edwards (Ruby), James Boyd Edwards (Mae), Dennis Hill Edwards (LaNell), and Joe Benton Edwards (Jane); and three sisters, Leona Blanche Edwards, Alma Snow (Wade), and Virginia White (Herman).  Her beloved husband, Samuel Wesley Badgett, passed away in 1986.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, John Wesley Badgett and his wife, Christine; a daughter, Ann B. Stewart and her husband, Bill; two special grandchildren, John Curtis Badgett (Jennifer) and Gina Stewart Messere (Mark); three beautiful great-granddaughters, Raegan Badgett, Renae Badgett, and Caleigh Messere; several nephews and nieces, including Linda Ann Snow; and her extended Stewart family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living and Medi Home Hospice for the exceptional care, encouragement, and love extended to their mother.

All services will be private.  The family requests no food or flowers.  However, if memorials are desired, please consider First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
