Alan Brent Eaton

Mr. Alan Brent “Sonny” Eaton, 68, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2017, at his home. Mr. Eaton was born November 5, 1948, in Forsyth County, one of four children born to the late Vance and Margaret Harris Eaton. Sonny retired as a bus driver from Mount Airy City Schools after many years of service and attended Joylight Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gwen Wagoner Eaton of the home; a daughter, Deanna Eaton of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Brent and Monica Eaton and Jonathan and Patty Eaton, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Hayden Eaton and Tiffany Eaton, both of Mount Airy; a sister, Sandra Kimmel of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary Eaton and Steve and Martha Eaton, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and many special cousins. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Joylight Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Bass officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
