Mr. Albert Cleo Chandler, age 83 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday evening, May 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Chandler was born in Surry County to the late Clarence and Vassie Colbert Chandler. Albert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Surviving is his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Chandler and wife Vicki; grandchildren and spouses, Dustin Chandler and Teresa, Cody Chandler and Laykon, Brandon Heath and Shelby, Ashely Heath, Jennifer Thore; seven great-grandchildren, Johnathon, Katrina, Kendall, Raleigh, Reid, Oliver, Owen; sister-in-law, Rachel Spencer; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his wife, Lear Ayers Chandler; a daughter, Tammy Annette Chandler; and two brothers, Walter Leo Chandler, Robert Edgar Chandler. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor Brandon Heath officiating. Interment will follow at Crooked Oak Moravian Church Cemetery in Cana, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the care provided to Mr. Chandler. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
