Mr. Albert Lee Johnson, 84, of 288 Beth Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Universal Health Care in King. Mr. Johnson was born January 2, 1923, in Surry County, to the late Elzevan and Martha Jane Draughn Johnson. He was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by four nieces, Janie Johnson Bowman of Pilot Mountain, Patsy Johnson Amburn and Stella Johnson Hawks, both of Mount Airy, and Brenda Johnson Davis of Dobson; and three nephews, the Rev. Steve Johnson and Jerry Johnson, both of Ararat, and Eddie Johnson of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Huldah Johnson, Esther F. Johnson, and Thelma Johnson Buelin; and three brothers, Grady Elzevan Johnson, Walter Martin Johnson, and James Wesley Johnson. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 28, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson, and burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
