Albert Ramon Upchurch

Mr. Albert Ramon Upchurch, 71, of 1154 Imogene Church Road, Lambsburg, VA, was received into the arms of God on Monday morning, May 26, 2008. Mr. Upchurch was born November 18, 1936, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Rebecca Elizabeth Faulkner Upchurch and William Jasper Upchurch. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and a friend to all. Albert was a former deacon of Lambsburg Baptist Church and a co-owner of Rental Towel Services in Pulaski, VA. He died peacefully and painlessly with his family by his bedside and surrounded by love. As his family, we guided him, thanked him, and told him it was time to let go. We assured him that we are going to be okay and he was, too. His breathing then shifted to a peaceful calm. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlie June Aldred Upchurch of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and David Clontz and Tinsell and Paul Fink, all of Lambsburg, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Melinda Upchurch of Fancy Gap, VA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Loretta Smith, Thelma and Corbett Bryant, and Nelma and Johnny Robinson, all of Lambsburg, VA, Alma and Russell Haynes of Clemmons, Wilma and Arnold Triplett of Burlington, and Elizabeth Williams of Kernersville; and a brother, William Elmer Upchurch of Lambsburg, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Upchurch was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Upchurch. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Lambsburg Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Verlon Combs, and burial will follow in the Edwards-Upchurch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
