Mr. Aldon Cephus White, 82, of 181 Simpson Mill Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, August 11, 2010, at Golden Living Center. Mr. White was born July 5, 1928, in Moore County, son of the late Cephus William and Maggie Lee Rogers White. Aldon served our country in the United States Army following World War II. He worked as a truck driver for 43 years and retired from North Carolina Foam Industries after 23 years of service. He is survived by a son, Garry Dean White of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Iris and Lloyd Hayden of Mount Airy and Erma Booker of Germanton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Weldon and Theo White of Mount Airy, Ronald and Dianna White of Pilot Mountain, and Stuart White of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lucille Thompson White; a grandson, Randy Dean White; and two brothers, Roger White and Vernon White. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 15, 2010, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Joey Lane and the Rev. Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home Garry Dean White, 302 Simpson Mill Road, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
