Alfred Kerry Dawson

Mr. Alfred Kerry Dawson, 77, of Thomasville, formerly of Cana, VA, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born August 12, 1934, in Henry County, VA, to the late Wilfred N. and Nell C. Tate Dawson. Mr. Dawson served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956 and was a retired construction worker. Mr. Dawson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Kerry Dawson, Jr. and Missy Dawson of MS; a daughter, Sherry Clay of Thomasville; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jack Dawson of Cana, VA, Douglas and Faye Dawson of High Point, Maynard Dawson of Mount Airy, and Elmer "Moe" and Sylvia Dawson of Claudville, VA; and a special friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by four brothers, Winfred N. Dawson, Jr. Raymond Dawson, Ted Dawson, and Richard Dawson. A graveside service will be held Monday, February 27, 2012, at 4:00 PM at Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Easter officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Monday from 2:00 until 3:30 PM.
