Alfred Ray Gammons

Mr. Alfred Ray Gammons, 82, of Mount Airy, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born April 24, 1941, to the late Anderson Jackson and Mary Alice Bowman Gammons. Mr. Gammons was a loving husband, daddy, and papa. He was an avid carp fisherman and loved helping his family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Margaret “Edie” Gammons; daughter and son-in-law, Treva “Sissy” and Calvin Wilson; sons, Rocky Hawks Jr., Daniel Hawks; 4 other children; grandchildren, Rocky Hawks III, Austin Hazelwood, Brandon Hazelwood, Alexander Hawks, Peyton Hawks, Emilee Suzanne, Alexis Reynolds, Rhain Montgomery; and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by 4 sisters; and 4 brothers. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM at The Community Church with Rev. Warren Atkins, Rev. Stephen Hawkins, and Rev. Davis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
