Mr. Algeron Stanley Southard, age 84, of Elkin, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born July 1, 1937, in Surry County to the late Spurgeon Southard and the late Alma Stanley Southard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances Chrismon Southard; his daughter, Debra Southard Clack; and his sister, Sandra Southard. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Southard Moore and Scott Moore, his sons, M. Stan Southard, and James Allen Southard; grandchildren, Destiny Southard Potts, Luke Southard, Joe Blaine Guyer III (Kristy), Michael Paul Guyer, Jessica Clack, Lane Moore and Brooke Moore; great-grandchildren, Adler Guyer, Isabell Guyer, Norah Sizemore and Ellie Southard; sister, Peggy Jo Crouse; brother, Windell Southard (Kay); sister-in-law Ellen Stanley (Ronald); aunt, Betty Jean Flinchum; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Southard was a member and served as a Deacon at Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church, worked at Wayne Farms for over 45 years, and was a farmer and store owner. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in the Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Groce and Rev. Marty Reece officiating. There will be no services held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017 or to the Bessie’s Chapel Cemetery Fund, C/O Tim Hanks, 1267 Poplar Springs Road, Elkin NC 28621. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Southard family.
