Alice Jones

Mrs. Alice Elaine Easter Jones, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 22, 2021, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born October 5, 1940, in Surry County, to the late Peter Abner and Lessie Coble Easter.  Mrs. Jones was loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandra Jones; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Chris Hall; eight grandchildren, Emerald Brooke Cain, Granville Thomas Ray Shinault, III, Thomas Lee Shinault, Tabatha Lynn Lyons, Charles Elbert Cave, II, Casey Eli Cave, Abigail LeeAnn Cave, and Cherokee Meadow Sexton; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Jones; a daughter, Cathy Sue Jones Shinault; a granddaughter, Deonna Lynn Wood Hiatt; eight sisters, Elsie May Easter Singleton, Leona Easter, Lena Easter, Irene Easter McCann, Mary Louise Easter, Addie Jean Easter, Nancy Simons, and an infant sister; and four brothers, Bobby Ray Easter, Thomas Easter, Henry Oscar Easter, and an infant brother.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Elder Arwood Edwards officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
