Allen Ottis Hayes

Mr. Allen Ottis Hayes, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. Hayes was born May 11, 1944, in Surry County, the son of the late Early Ottis and Alma Morris Hayes. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by a sister, Elsie Hayes of Mount Airy; two nieces, Sylvia Boyles of Mount Airy and Norma Warren of King; two nephews, Jerry Dollyhigh and Donald Dollyhigh, both of Mount Airy; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Hassell Dollyhigh; and a brother, Roy Hayes. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love and care given to Allen and his family. Also, the family would like to thank the close friends and neighbors for the love and care given to Allen for so many years.
