Mrs. Allie Portis Easter, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Easter was born December 2, 1938, in Surry County, to Henry R. and Ada Martin Portis. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Juna Easter of Pilot Mountain; two grandchildren, Hope Easter and Matthew Easter; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Faye and Charlie Horton and Alice Easter, all of Mount Airy; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, Tom and Patsy Portis and Delane Portis, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Curtis Easter; and three brothers, Glenn Portis, Joe Portis, and Jack Portis. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by the Rev. Buford Jessup. Burial will follow in the Portis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Alan Easter, 341 Cook School Road, Pilot Mountain.
