Mrs. Alma Marsh Alberty completed her long, faithful, earthly journey on Wednesday November 8, 2006.
She was born on November 23, 1915 in the Eldora Township of Surry County as the second child of Thomas Millard Marsh and Eva Belle Canter Marsh. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Artice Phillips, Dillard Corder, and Thelmore Alberty. Mrs. Alberty was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church for over Sixty Years where she served as pianist and a Sunday School teacher. Her dearest friend and acquaintance were made as she attended and served her church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a son and his wife, Robert Phillips and Anne Winfield of Chapel Hill, NC; a daughter and her husband, Carol Butterworth and Billy of Moneta, VA. Two grandsons, Brian Stone, of Mocksville, Mark Butterworth and wife Nicole, of Vinton, VA; two great-grandchildren Sarah and Daniel Butterworth of Vinton,; one step son and wife Nathan Alberty and Betty of Lake Norman; step Daughters and husbands Nancy Tunstall and Ed of Oxford, Jo Nell Branch and Eugene, Jean Carol Branch, Joyce Snow and Thomas all of Dobson; several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; sisters Zelda Sharpe of Siler City, Hallie Huff and Melvin of Greensboro, Mildred Cockerham of Greensboro, Claudia Coltrane and Lewis of High Point; brother Thomas Millard Marsh, Jr. and Ernestine of Greensboro; sisters-in-law Dorothy Phillips of Elkin and Era Snow of Dobson. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday November 11, 2006 at Fairview Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Andy Atkins will officiate the service. The Family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Friday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. and at other times at Mrs. Alberty's home on Crutchfield St. Dobson. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church C/O Betty Newman 8070 NC Hwy 268, Dobson, NC 27017.
