Mrs. Alma Mae White Davis, age 78 passed away February 7, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Davis was born in Wythe County, VA November 14, 1929 to the late Howard Franklin and Ruby Mae Marshall White. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel and attended Bottom Road Tabernacle when her health permitted. Mrs. Davis was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Wesley Thompson of Ararat, VA, Brenda and Oakie McCarty of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren and spouses, Johnny and Denise Thompson, Donnie and Sondra Thompson, Tabatha and Joseph Hughes, Angela and Barry Pell, Sherry and Michael Outlaw, Lisa Weddle, Jeremy and Michelle McCarty and Kim McCarty; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Jerry Pennell of Raleigh, Betty Blansett of Winston Salem, Joyce and Charlie Lawson of Barren Springs, VA; one brother, Leonard White of Pfafftown.. In addition to her parents Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Davis; a son, Gary Wayne Davis; one sister; two brothers; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Martin and Rev. Blain Oakley with burial to follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery in Hillsville, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and at other times at the home of her daughter Barbara at 579 Farmers Rd, Ararat, VA.
