Alma Atkins Robertson

Mrs. Alma Atkins Robertson, 77, of 149 Marion Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Robertson was born December 20, 1934, in Surry County, one of twelve children born to the late Coy and Mary McHone Atkins. Alma retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Turkey Ford Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Thomas Robertson of Yadkinville, Georgia Robertson, Mark Robertson, and Kim Robertson, all of the home, and Kevin and Brandy Robertson of Fuquay-Varina; two grandsons, Tommy Robertson and his wife, Donna, and Dustin Robertson, all of Yadkinville; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Robertson of Yadkinville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ruth and Paul McGee, Sally Holder, and Sandra and Eddie Draughn, all of Mount Airy; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Bud Atkins, Fox and Jackie Atkins, Louise Atkins, and Sylvia Atkins, all of Mount Airy; a brother-in-law, Raymond Robertson of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robertson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. "Bo" Robertson; a daughter, Mary Frances Robertson; a sister, Marie Brintle; five brothers, Coy "Junior" Atkins, Nick Atkins, Ernest Atkins, Curtis Atkins, and Max Atkins, and a special friend, Marvin C. White. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 3, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steven Corn, the Rev. Dale Bass, the Rev. Noel Hawks, and the Rev. Spencer Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
