Alton Brent Moore

Mr. Alton Brent “River Rat” Moore, age 69, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, in Dobson, NC. He was born January 22, 1954, in Surry County, to the late Al Smith Moore and the late Verlene Coe Moore.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Carrie Moore; his sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Moore, and Chad and Laura Moore; grandchildren, Callie Moore, Avery Wilmoth, and Ayden Wilmoth; sisters and brother-in-law, Sharon Elmore and Teresa and Bill Haymore; special friends, Bill Hewitt, Jim Hewitt, Sam Davis and Gary Snow; and many other friends. Mr. Moore loved his garden and sharing his harvest with everyone in the community, watching his grandchildren playing sports, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, and loved his family beach trips. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 12:30-2:00 PM at Rockford Baptist Church. Service will begin at 2:00, in the church, with Rev. Roy Ferguson and Sam Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina, PO Box 692, Dobson NC 27017, or to The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017.
