Mr. Ambrose Wayne Coe, age 62 of Rockford Road, Dobson passed away at his home after a five year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Wayne was born in Surry County on April 18, 1944 to the late Woodrow and Lalar Stanley Coe. He was retired from Piedmont Airlines/USAirways after thirty five Years of Service as an aircraft inspector and mechanic. Before his illness he was also a farmer and owned and operated a bull dozer business. He was a charter member of the International Association of Machinists, Local Lodge 2444. He served in the US Air Force in Taiwan and Vietnam during the Vietnam war. He was a member of Stony Knoll Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of forty two years, Linda Gunter Coe, four daughters and sons-in-law Tammy and Kenny Case of Germanton, Kristi and Larry Hagan of Winston-Salem, Sharon and Ryan Walton of Dobson, Jennifer and Eric Hough of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren Raymond Stanley, Ashley Hinshaw, Kyle Hagan, Lydia Hough; one sister and brother-in-law Alma and Landon Matthews of Dobson; one brother and sister-in-law Earlie and Brenda Coe of Dobson; in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Ann Coe. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday October 15, 2006 at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Jimmy Lawton and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church C/O Dorothy McCormick 1085 Stony Knoll Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Special thanks to his Hospice nurses Crystal and Aide Benita.
