Andrew Clifford Brooks

Mr. Andrew Clifford Brooks, age 82, of Thurmond, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  He was born in Surry County November 27, 1935 to the late Andrew Jackson Brooks and Myrtie Bates Brooks.  Mr. Brooks retired from Neighbors Stores and was a faithful member of Charity Hill Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife Shelby White Brooks; daughters Nancy (Tim) Walker, Angela (Johnny) Walker; son, Marty Childress,  grandchildren, Chase Berrier, Jordon (Ashton) Walker, Keith (Stephanie) Blankley, Jeremi (Jamie) Blankley, Jesse (Jessica) Walker; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roy Lee (Rosa) Brooks; Sister, Hazel Money; sister-in-law, Doris Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Elsie) Hutchens as well as several nieces and nephews and a precious fur baby Izzy.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Mae Hutchens Brooks; brothers, Roby and Harvey Brooks; sisters, Doris Shores, Theresa Nixon, Thelma Mack and Effie Snider as well as five infant brothers and sisters.  The Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Cardwell, Rev. Keith Blankley, Rev. Jon White and Rev. David Sechrist officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Charity Hill Baptist Church for their building fund c/o Brian Cardwell, 1593 Byrd Road, Roaring River NC. 28669.
