Andrew Gray Lewis

Mr. Andrew Gray “Andy” Lewis, 37, of Archdale, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Mr. Lewis was born July 28, 1979, in Surry County, to Lonnie Gray Lewis and the late Martha Cave Gillespie. Andy was formerly employed as a maintenance mechanic at High Point University. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, along with his many friends. As a member of a motorcycle group, he helped raise money for local charities. He is survived by a daughter, Madison Mae Lewis of Chapel Hill; his father and stepmother, Lonnie Gray and Pam Lewis of Asheboro; a half-sister and her husband, Sharon and Randy Bledsoe of Dobson; two half-brothers and their wives, Chad and Jeana Lewis of Ararat and Jaime and Myra Lewis of Dobson; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Angela Bowman of Chapel Hill and Kelli Maness Connell of High Point. In addition to his mother, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leo and Mildred Cave; and his paternal grandparents, Victor John and Stella Mae Marion Lewis. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kermit Gray, the Rev. Marty Lewis, and the Rev. Hank Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Bill Joe and Irene Woodruff at 1519 West Fairfield Drive in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
