Angelina Jovanovic

Angelina Jovanovic, 84, a resident of the Summerlin community in Las Vegas for more than 20 years, died on Thursday, the 26th of October 2017 at Nathan Adelson Hospice with her children by her side. Born in 1933 in Belgrade, Serbia, Nina survived WWII bombings of her home that took the life of her mother. At age 20, Nina moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met and married Dusan Jovanovic. Together, they had two children, Ratko and Spoma, who they raised in the suburbs of Las Angeles, California. Nina worked for a bank, automotive manufacturing company, and engineering firm before settling into her career with UFCW Local 770 where she managed the medical care health benefits department. She retired in 1995 after 32 years of service there, and then later volunteered at Summerlin Hospital and Nathan Adelson Hospice. Angelina loved to dance, travel around the world, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed music, plays, and her pets, most recently Lili. Nina’s outgoing personality and wonderful smile warmed the hearts of everyone she met. Angelina was preceded in death by her husband, Dusan Jovanovic and her parents, Nikola and Zivka Vasiljevic as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Zivan and Ranka Vasiljevic and her sister and brother-in-law, Leposava and Djoka Veljkovic. She is survived by son, Ratko Jovanovic of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Spoma Jovanovic and her husband Lewis Pitts of Greensboro, NC; and three grandchildren, Jay, Sander, and Lena Mattson. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00am at Skyline Memory Garden, 432 Old Buck Shoals Rd., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
