Mrs. Anna Sue Creed Brintle, 88, of Mount Airy, saw Jesus on Sunday morning, February 16, 2025, and He took her breath away and welcomed her into heaven. Mrs. Brintle was born April 21, 1936, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the F.J. “Levie” and Ernestine Hanks Creed. Sue was a true Southern lady who carried the grace and hospitality of the South wherever she went. Throughout her years as a rural mail carrier, Sue became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. She knew everyone by name, always taking the time to chat and brighten someone’s day with her gentle spirit. She took great pride in her work, often going above and beyond to ensure that every letter and package arrived safely. A true artisan at heart, Sue had an incredible talent for turning simple ingredients into delicious, homemade treats that became a highlight at every gathering. Beyond the kitchen, she was an avid crafter. Her hands could turn any project into a masterpiece. In the garden, Sue found peace and joy. Her green thumb was evident in every blooming flower and every perfectly tended plant. The garden was her sanctuary, and it was where Sue often found solace, cultivating beauty from the earth and sharing it with loved ones. Above all, she was a devoted wife to Blaine, a cherished mother to Cheryl and Terrie, and a treasured “Oma” to Meghann. Her fierce love for her family was boundless, and she made it her life’s mission to nurture and support those she loved. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Blaine Nichols Brintle; two daughters, Cheryl Brintle and Terrie Brintle; an adored granddaughter, Meghann Heath and her husband, Nathan; a sister, Jean Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brintle was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Atkins, Annie Holyfield, and Jane Danley; and two brothers, the Rev. Roscoe Creed, Jr. and Wallace Creed. A service of worship and celebration of Sue’s life will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, with Pastor David Trump and Pastor Mark Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. No formal visitation will be held; however, family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Night to Shine at Salem Baptist Church, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
