Annie Ruth Roberts Boyles Allred

Mrs. Annie Ruth Roberts Boyles Allred, 100, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 8, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Allred was born July 8, 1921, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late William Henry and Minnie Stovall Roberts. Ruth worked at Quality Mills for several years and later retired from Renfro Corporation. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Ann Powers of Tennessee, and Mary Owens and Connie Slate, both of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jewel Boyles of Claudville, VA; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Harris of Buena Vista, VA, and Norma Jean Jones of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a cherished and well-loved caregiver, Denise Slate of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allred was preceded in death by her first husband, Julius Carlyle Boyles; her second husband, Jerry Edward Allred; a daughter, Betty Lou Brown; a son Roger Sylvester Boyles; a son-in-law, James Leon Slate; three grandchildren, Allen Owens, Robert Owens, and Amy Denise Brown Leech Carter; three sisters, Lilly Fulcher, Elsie Bishop, and Otra Martin; and two brothers, William Guy Roberts and Walter Roberts. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Austin Caviness and the Rev. Darren Slate officiating. Burial will follow in the Pedigo Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
