Mrs. Annie Brown Branch, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, December 25, 2010, at Golden Living Center. She was born March 27, 1932, in Surry County, to the late McKinley and Mattie Jane Wood Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Johnson and Viola Brown; and three brothers, William Ross "Bill" Brown, Raymond Brown, and Lincoln Brown. She retired as a certified nursing assistant from Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Wendell Harden Branch of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Danny Taylor of East Bend; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Wanda Branch of Mount Airy, Don and Vickie Branch of Dobson, and Danny and Terri Branch of Rural Hall; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Melanie and Brad Sprinkle, Hannah Taylor, Cassie and Patrick Hovelson, Katie Branch, Victoria and Josh Calhoun, Blue Branch, Dustin Branch, and Myles Branch; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Denise Slate. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Trent Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dorothy Cave, 935 Caves Mill Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
