Annie York Edwards

Mrs. Annie York Edwards, 77, of 473 Imogene Road, Lambsburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Edwards was born February 18, 1930, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Charlie John and Mazie Surratt York. Annie was a homemaker and an honorary member of the Lambsburg Rescue Squad. Mrs. Edwards attended Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Edwards and special friend, Jennifer Gilbert, and Charles Layne and Paige Edwards, all of Lambsburg, VA, and Mark Shane and Irene Edwards of Mount Airy; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joy Jones and Dina Hull, both of Lambsburg, VA, and Lannie Lorson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; three brothers, Frank York, Roy York, and Claude York, all of Lambsburg, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Hall of Fancy Gap, VA, Judy Edwards of Mount Airy, and Ruth Bryant, Doris Lyons, Mary Spencer and Hazel Surratt, all of Lambsburg, VA; and a special caregiver, Betty Ann Snow of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Swanson Edwards; and two brothers, Alvin York and C.L. York. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Elder Arwood Edwards and Elder Lacy Gates, and burial will be in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or Lambsburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 136, Lambsburg, VA 24351.
