Mrs. Annie Laura Fain, age 66 of Stuart passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on February 16, 1940 to the late Sam and Nellie Willard Goins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fain was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Evan Fain; one sister, Carrie Bowman; and three brothers, Bobby, Walter and Harry Goins. She was a certified nursing assistant at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital with 45 years of service. She started working at the hospital two months after it began operation, and worked there until her death. She was a volunteer for the Southern Area on Aging and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Fain is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Alex Wilkins of Stuart; one son, Rick Fain of Stuart; two grandsons, Davis Wilkins and Brandon Wilkins; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Marvin Hughes of Stuart, Iris and Larry Bryant of Mount Airy, North Carolina, and Linda and Carl Fain of Stuart; three half-sisters, Alice Lawson of Lexington, North Carolina, Virginia Easter of Mount Airy, North Carolina, and Rachel Davis of Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Jerry Goins and Clyde Goins, both of Stuart, and Shirley Goins of Claudville, and one half-brother, Andy Goins of Lexington, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fain will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Wayne Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
