Mrs. Annie Mae Gentry France, 80, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-SalemC. She was born in Surry County to the late Pete and Ida Bowles Gentry. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Laura France Bracken of Dobson, Mamie Mitchell of Siloam, and Gertrude Bratcher of Shoals; four sons, Douglas France of Mattoon IL, Benny France of Dobson, Ike France of Dobson, and Willie France of Shoals; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mable Robinson of Hampton, VA, and Frances Welborn of Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William France; a daughter, Marylene Porter Hickman; two brothers, Wesley Gentry and Hugh Gentry; and three sisters Mildred Forest, Creola Smith, and Rose Lee Gilbert. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday June 10, 2010, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Willie Jackson, the Rev. James Tatum, and the Rev. Montreal Howell. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
