Mrs. Annie Mae Crotts Goins, 72, widow of Mr. Nathan "Pete" Goins went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 26, 1937 to the late Jonah and Patty Alice Rakes Crotts. Mrs. Goins was a retired Order Clerk at Renfro Corporation and of the Baptist faith. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she leaves behind to cherish her memory the family she held so dear to her heart, two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Richard Caudill of Elkin and Debbie and Joe Howlett of Dobson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Cheryl Tate of Elkin and Mike and Judy Tate of Mount Airy; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Frank Danley of Ararat; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex and Wanda Crotts, Jackie and June Crotts and Rev. Ted and Ann Crotts all of Mount Airy; a very special friend and roommate, Hazel Hopkins of Central Continuing Care. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by two sons, Ray and Ronnie Tate; a brother and three sisters. Her funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday May 30, 2009 at Blackwater Community Church by Brother Ted Crotts, Brother Frank Danley and Brother Timmy Crotts with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Annie Goins Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home, PO Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Central Continuing Care for all the love and compassionate care given to Mrs. Goins during her stay there.
