Mrs. Annie Pearl Snow Emerson Martin, 79, of Dobson, widow of Mr. Phillip Emerson and E. J. Martin passed away on Friday October 19, 2007 at Hoots Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her bedside. She was born in Surry County on December 3, 1927 to the late Connie Benson and Pearl Hemmings Snow. Mrs. Martin was retired from Central Adult Care of Mount Airy and later worked for the Surry County Health Department as long as her health permitted. She was a proud graduate of Copeland School and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter and son-in-law Connie Emerson Harris and husband Jerry of Orange, CA; two sons Phil Emerson and Kent Snow Martin both of Dobson; a step-daughter Brenda Sharp of John's Island, SC; a step-son Robert Stanley Martin of Wytheville, VA. two grandchildren Kayla Michelle Martin and Justin Samuel Martin both of Dobson; four step-grandchildren and spouses Ronda and Ed Meyer of Manderville, LA, Rochelle and Michael O'Day of Pittsburgh, PA, Roger Lee and Monique Sharp and Ryan Lane and Kelly Sharpe all of Kennett Square PA; seven step great-grandchildren Erik Meyer, Morgan Alexis Meyer, Alana Leigh Meyer, Roger Louis Sharp, Louis Joseph Sharp, Caroline O'Day and Patrick O'Day; two sisters-in-law Marie Bunker Snow and Edith Snow Fulk and husband Gray; several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Snow Hobson and Dorothy Snow Terrell; two brothers Garland Snow and Glenn Snow; a step-son Charles Samuel Martin. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Lyons and Rev. Van Brindle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2 PM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church General Fund 818 Prison Camp Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hoots Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Martin during her stay there.
