Mrs. Annie Beatrice Monday Smith, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was born in Bluefield, WV, to the late Robert Seymour and Louvenia Leftwich Monday. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, where she was active in the missionary circle. She was a member of the Mount Airy Woman's Club and also a member of the Colonial Dames, Woods River Chapter in Galax, VA. Mrs. Smith retired from J.C. Penney Company in 2002 after working for many years, several of those as the supervisor of the catalog department. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Smith of Browns Summit and Barbara and Henry Harbour of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Heather Bedsaul and husband, Roger Bedsaul, Jr. of Mount Airy; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Bedsaul and Abby Bedsaul, both of Mount Airy; two sisters, Arline M. Brown of Winston-Salem and Olive M. Riggs of Mount Airy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Byron Smith; and a brother, Robert C. Monday. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Dr. Roger Gilbert, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the service, and other times at the home Mrs. Smith's sister, Olive M. Riggs, 235 East Church Street, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
