Anthony Layne Creed

Mr. Anthony Layne Creed, age 46, of 539 Red Brush Rd. Mt. Airy passed away on Saturday August 19, 2006 at Lake Norman in Catawba County. He was born in Surry County on November 4, 1959 to the late George Whitford "Joe" Creed and Nancy Lorene Moore Creed. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister Ramona Lynn Creed. He was the owner and operator of Layne Creed Paving Inc. Surviving are his mother Nancy Lorene Moore Creed of Dobson; one brother Scotty Creed of Dobson; two sisters and brothers-in-laws Renee and Ken Ross of Dobson, Velvet and Chris Leonard of Cana, VA; one niece Aly Leonard; four nephews Toby Wiles, Brandon Ross, Jeremiah Ross, and Sheldon Leonard. Very Special Friend Brandy Simmons, and her sons Ethan Simmons, Logan Simmons all of Mt. Airy; aunts and uncles Hilda and Ben Nichols of Mt. Airy, Norma Tucker of Mt. Airy, Arlene Stewart of Raleigh, Jerry and Margie Moore of Mt. Airy, Sammie Ann Creed; Several Cousins. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Tate and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. The Family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 PM, and at other times at the home of his Mother 225 Fowler Circle, Dobson, NC 27017. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire & Rescue, Inc. in memory of Layne Creed for their Sonar Equipment C/O George Lutz PO Box 51 Sherrills Ford, NC 28673. The family would like to express a special thanks to all rescue and emergency personnel that help make the recovery possible. A very special thanks to Mr. George Lutz of Sherrills Ford Fire and Rescue and to J.B. Thompson of Charlotte Fire Dept. for their tireless efforts in the recovery of our beloved "Layne".
