Archie Gray Easter

 Mr. Archie Easter, 81 of Mount Airy passed away Friday, Dec 25, 2020 at his home surrounded by his wife and children.  He was born June 28, 1939 to the late Sidney and Lou Leftwich Easter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Victor, Bobby, Junior and Ray Easter. sisters: Brenda Easter Holloway, Linda Easter Jones and Barbara Kay Johnson.  Archie was well known as the Manager of Davis Rooms and Properties on W. Pine St and often lovingly referred to as “the Mayor of West Pine”.  He had a heart for those who needed a 2nd, and sometimes 3rd, or 4th chance in life, those who were down on their luck or trapped in addiction. He was compassionate and a friend to the friendless. Along with a bed and room he would share Jesus with many over his 60 years at Davis Rooms. He never visited a foreign country, but he had a mission field on West Pine St.  Archie was a faithful member at Northside Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as Choir Leader, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  Left to honor his memory are his wife of 63 years Christine “Chris” Horton Easter, daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Bob Leonard; son and daughter-in law, Keith and Lisa Easter.  Four grandchildren and spouses, Brad (Jackie) Leonard, Brandi (Jason) Jordan, Katie (Shawn) LeVan, and Kody (Keren) Easter; 11 great grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton, & Dane Leonard, Brea, and Laci Jordan, Fisher, and Ivy LeVan, Jeremiah, Jubilee, Mercy and Morris Easter.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021at Oakdale Cemetery with Kody Easter, Rev. Dean Eaton, and Rev. Jeff Wall officiating.  Due to regulations and health concerns at this time Mr. Easter will lie-in-state at Moody Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 6, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
