Arnold Lewis Scott

Mr. Arnold Lewis Scott, age 81, of Stuart, Virginia passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on May 29, 1937, to the late Luther Douthford Scott and Annice Mae Foley Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brewster Scott, an infant brother, and two sisters, Eunice Synan and Phyllis Hanchey.  Mr. Scott faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a respected logger most of his life.  Affectionately known as Colonel, Arnold will be remembered for his knack for storytelling and his ability to make people laugh.  An avid reader, he was gentle and kindhearted and had a love of nature.  Arnold was devoted to his family.  He cherished being a daddy to his four children and a papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Arnold was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.

Mr. Scott is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Jeanette Williams Scott of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and David Chaney, Rozina and John Turner, and Daisy and Bernardo Hernandez, all of Stuart; one son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Cindy Scott of Ferrum; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Scott, Richard Scott, Wilbur Scott and wife, Arlene, Greene Lloyd Scott, all of Stuart; Elliott Scott and wife, Debra of Penhook; one sister, Elaine Scott of Rocky Mount and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Scott will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Kenneth Terry and Michael Varner officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard with burial to follow at the Scott-Foley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
