Arnold C. Seal

Mr. Arnold C. Seal, 78, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Seal was born December 1, 1929, in Surry County, to Oscar and Della Jones Seal. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Newport News Police Department. Surviving are his devoted wife, Norma Stone Seal of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gayle Landes of Newport News, VA, and Debbie and Rick Clayton of Locust Grove, GA; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Kristie Seal of Elkin, Craig Seal of Newport News, VA, and Mark Seal of the home; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Cave and Frances Hodges, both of Dobson; and a sister-in-law, Una Seal of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Seal was preceded in death by three brothers, Dean Seal, Clarence Seal, and Roy Seal. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 3, 2008, at Central View Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Travis Chipman. Mr. Seal will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central View Baptist Church, 1088 White Dirt Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or Foothills Food Pantry, 233 Cooper Street, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Thomas and Sally and all the staff of Piedmont Hematology and Oncology Associates in Elkin and also the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving care and kindness shown to our family.
