Arthur Allen Bowman

Mr. Arthur Allen "Art" Bowman, 56, of 129 Greenbrier Drive, Radford, VA, passed away Thursday morning, February 26, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Mr. Bowman was born February 6, 1953, in Surry County, to Shirley Johnson Bowman and the late Jacob Carroll "Jake" Bowman, Jr. He grew up in Greenville, SC, and was a graduate of Clemson University. Art was a corporate pilot in Charlotte for several years and a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by a son, Jonathan Lee Bowman of Charlotte; a daughter, Emily Jean Bowman of Boone; his mother, Shirley Johnson Bowman of Radford, VA; a sister, Shirley Bowman Miller of Radford, VA; a brother, Steve H.L. Bowman of Inverness, FL; his fiancee, Melissa Yates of Radford, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Carroll "Beau" Bowman, III. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2009, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ric Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
