Arthur Edward "Cotton" Goins

Mr. Arthur Edward "Cotton" Goins, 75, of 368 Seminary Avenue, Rahway, NJ, passed away Monday, October 8, 2007, at his home. Mr. Goins was born February 16, 1932, in Claudville, VA, son of the late Fletcher and Annie Elizabeth Wilson Goins. He lived in Mount Airy for many years before moving to Rahway, NJ, where he lived for the past 45 years. Retiring in 1993, he was employed as a mechanic with Loizeaux Builders Supplies in Elizabeth, NJ, for 15 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 408 in Elizabeth, NJ, and Teamsters Local 641 in Union City, NJ. Mr. Goins served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia Kuznitz Goins of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Allan Smolsky of Linden, NJ, Sherri and Andrew Haliscak of Damascus, PA, and Susan and William McCarthy of Rahway, NJ; a son, Fred Goins of Manville, NJ; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Juanita Goins, Mildred Collins, Elizabeth and James Goins, Faye and Mitchell Hunter, and Inez and Roger Chandler, all of Mount Airy, and Helen and Carl Hooker of Claudville, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Ethel Goins of Clemmons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Schmidt. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 15, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ararat, VA. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Young. Corey-Ragan Funeral Home in Rahway, NJ, and Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Goins family.
