Arvil Samuel George

Mr. Arvil Samuel George, age 71 of Mt. Airy passed away at his home February 8, 2007. Mr. George was born March 4, 1935 in McDowell County, WVA to the late Andy and Christine George. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired crane operator from Smith - Rowe, Inc. Mr. George is survived by his wife, Ruby East George of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Tim Gammons, Libby and Jim Hodges all of Mt Airy; two sons, Sammy George of the home, Junior Smith of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Brooke, B.J. and Stevie Hodges, Samuel Gammons and Heather George; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Minnie Holyfield and Rita and Lonnie Atkins all of Mt. Airy; four brothers, Rudolph, Otis, Chester George and Garnet Venable all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by three brothers, Aldie and Elmer George, and Troy Venable. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Crouse, Rev. Jason Johnson and Chaplain Todd Byrd with burial to follow in Bryant Chapel Cemetery.
